port and its partners helped to make all the weekend visitors soar in a good-natured climate above the various aeronautical activities on offer. For this first edition of the Aviation Festival, the event was able to make the passions of young and old curious about the Calais sky take off
A historic weekend of discovery
The aerodrome was buzzing all weekend with many activities for all ages: Baptism thanks to local associations/flying clubs and flying school, presentation of the Miss Aeronautics, Static and dynamic flight simulators, Model aeronautics, presentation of aeronautical studies and trades and presentation of the Dunkirk Maritime Piloting helicopter, as well as the Reconstitution of a military camp of 39-45 for the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Marck on the 28th September 1944 in front of the terminal.
A competition offered those who tried their luck to win a first flight: Enough to leave with unforgettable memories of this weekend.
Admission was free of charge, an on-site catering service was provided by the Brasserie “au vol au vent” organizer of this first edition decided before the handing over of the keys to the management of Grand Calais Terres et Mers airport to EDEIS.
This convivial experience could not have been such a great success without the total involvement of all its participants, not to mention all the volunteers, flying clubs and other associations who made this day exceptional for all!
A strategic development for the territory
The airport beautification project, supported by public and private funding, aims to strengthen the economic attractiveness of the agglomeration.
While the region is experiencing a revival of activity with the construction of the Verkor Gigafactory in Bourbourg (among others), local elected officials are banking on this development to generate jobs and attract new companies specializing in the sector.
This day of September 29, 2024 was a unique opportunity for visitors to discover the fascinating world of aviation and its professions.
We look forward to seeing you next year!
